Event Details

Meet in the Genealogy & Local History Room on the 3rd floor of the Downtown Library to learn about our exciting new Retro Technology Lab! Get an overview of the digitizing equipment, observe how they work, and understand library processes for accessing this set of tools.

The goal is to enable folks to easily transfer precious family memories from old media (video cassettes, 8mm film, photos, negatives, slides, & more) to digital files to better preserve & share them.

Our focus this month will be on home movies – transferring them from video cassettes (VHS, VHS-C, DV, Video 8, Hi8, Digital8) and film reels (8mm and Super8).

Bring your own tapes and film for possible use as class examples, but do not plan to leave with everything digitized because these sorts of transfers occur in real-time!

To do that work, you’ll likely need to come to a Monday night Drop-in Help session or schedule an appointment.
