Join March’s Art is for Everyone artist, Sumbal Mushtaq, and learn new collage techniques. Collage is seen as a mixture of "high" and "low" art. It is a newer form of modern art and is a popular technique employed by many artists. Collage became an art form during the Synthetic Cubist period of Picasso and Braque. What collage offers cannot be found in flat work alone. Magazine and newspaper clippings, photographs, printed words, and even dirtied cloth are great vehicles for conveying a message. The possibilities of using collage to address a variety of issues are endless. In this class students will use diverse materials and media, such as newspaper, magazines, package labels, fabric, paint and photographs, into one composition follow by a theme. Student will explore and experiment with creating truly new, exciting and unexpected. All materials will be provided and no special art  skills are necessary.

Classes are free and open to everyone, especially beginners. Online registration is not required, but classes are first come, first served. We recommend arriving up to thirty minutes before class starts to sign up for a seat.

This class is part of Art is for Everyone, a project supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
