Event Details

Learn a new skill and make new friends. This is an open lab for beginners and those who want to learn a new stitch or who need assistance with a pattern.  

  

New knitters and crocheters will learn at their own pace.   

Skills new knitters can be expected to learn are: 

- Casting on 

- Knit and purl stitches

- Increases and decreases

- Bind off

- Knitting flat and in the round

- Finishing techniques

 

Skills new crocheters can be expected to learn are:

- Chain stitch, foundation chain

- Slip stitch, single crochet, half-double crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, post stitches, etc.

- Increases and decreases

- Crocheting flat and in the round

- Finishing techniques

  

New knitters and crocheters will need to bring their own tools.

Knitters, please bring: 

- Size 8 (5.00 mm) straight or 24-inch circular needles. Wood/bamboo needles are preferable, but metal or plastic needles will work too.

- Worsted weight yarn (also called medium weight or size 4) in a color of your choice, preferably a light solid color (not multicolor).  Wool or acrylic yarns are preferred; cotton yarns may be more difficult for new knitters.  Please, no fun fur or novelty yarns.

 

Crocheters, please bring:

- Size H (5.00 mm) or size I (5.50 mm) crochet hook (metal, wood, or plastic)

- Worsted weight yarn (also called medium weight or size 4) in a color of your choice, preferably a light solid color (not multicolor).  Wool or acrylic yarns are preferred; cotton yarns may be more difficult for new crocheters.  Please, no fun fur or novelty yarns.

  

Beginner-intermediate knitters and crocheters

Are you stuck on a pattern, or do you need assistance with learning a new stitch?  Bring in your project for one-on-one assistance.
